Ferrum Fighter
A study in colors and textures, this piece attempts to tie several finishes, colors and textures into one harmonious, stabby whole.
The blade is my Laminated steel (80CRV2 and 410 stainless), with an aggressive lamination line. Blade bevels are flat ground and hand-finished with forge texture on the ricasso and spine. The Thorned guard is color case hardened and flanked by a mirror polished nickel silver spacer.
The curly maple handle is not dyed, but toasted to caramelize the sugars in the wood, then stabilized. It is fitted in a museum-fit style and attached with a single, domed nickel silver pin.
The low-ride sheath is finished in an autumn leaf pattern.
Blade length 8.375", overall 13.75"
